Truth

In a post-modern world where absolute truth has been curbed in an attempt to keep anyone from rocking the boat of culture; we at DBC-Seattle have a strong desire to press the issue of the truth of Christ. That salvation is found in no other name and we have the evidence to back it up. The truth is not a distant or elusive thing but God Himself who desires to make Himself known to those who are humble and simple. It doesn’t take the mind of a theologian but the heart of a child to know God and to be shown the absolute truth of every promise and decree He has made. We want to help lead a generation into this reality by studying history, science, philosophy but ultimately the Bible itself. The Word of God is living and active and His Spirit will shine light on every issue, question and argument in such a way that will leave you excited, in awe and desiring more.

Gospel

Gospel means “good news” and that is exactly what it is. The news is good because it is news of a remedy to a problem all of us face. All of us fall short of God and His standard of morality and goodness. It is absolute perfection and it is why He is so glorious. We have all sinned but most importantly YOU HAVE SINNED. It is true that you are not alone in sinning against God but YOU are the only one who will be accountable for YOU when you die. We can go through and explain your lying, blasphemy, stealing, sexual lusts, and idolatry and so on but we both know that at that very statement that “YOU HAVE SINNED” it was true. Our prayer is that you would not glaze over this as just “mistakes you have made” or being “just human” but that you would wake up to the fact that all you have done is sin against God in rebellion toward Him. In all you have done you lived for yourself. To please yourself, preserve yourself, glorify yourself and exalt yourself and in this process you used any means necessary to do so. All the while breaking the heart and angering the God who created you for His pleasure, glory and exaltation. You know this and you know the consequences. It is Hell for all eternity. If you feel this unjust it only further shows your love for sin and contempt for a perfect and loving God. You have to come to this conclusion and that you are hopeless and helpless to change your fate. There is nothing you can do to escape the just punishment for your sin. NOW…back to the Good News. The truth of all this can be heavy but there is a remedy and His name is Jesus. Christ Himself bore YOUR punishment on the cross so that you would not have too. If you will humble yourself and with all you have turn from sin, trust in His sacrifice and follow Him with a heart of affection than not only will you escape Hell but you will be brought into the family of God. He will transform you to love Him and all that is right and good, while giving you a desire to despise all that attempts to strip Him of glory. You will hate sin and grow in grace to have victory over it. You will begin to read His Word (Holy Bible) and feel His heart for you and the rest of mankind. He will empower you to do what you have dreamed of from your youth. To impact this world in the greatest of ways and all for something far greater than yourself, you will advance the Kingdom of Heaven and the Lord will be pleased.
